- GCS was started by Andrew Johnstone in 1987 after the disappointment by Dames and Moore from South Africa.
- GCS started out as a consultancy providing groundwater-related studies, and has expanded to include hydrology, hydrogeology, pedology, geology, engineering, geotechnical and environmental sciences.
- GCS has offices in Johannesburg, Kimberley and Durban as well as satellite offices in Graaff Reinet and De Rust.
- GCS work throughout Africa.
- While the majority of GCS’ work comes from the Mining Sector, GCS also does work in the industrial, oil and gas sectors and government industries.
