- GCS was started by Andrew Johnstone in 1987 after the disappointment by Dames and Moore from South Africa.
- GCS started out as a consultancy providing groundwater-related studies, and has expanded to include hydrology, hydrogeology, pedology, geology, engineering, geotechnical and environmental sciences.
- GCS has offices in South Africa in Johannesburg (head office), Durban and Pretoria as well as in Windhoek (Namibia) and Ostrava (Czech Republic).
- GCS works throughout Africa.
- While the majority of GCS’ work comes from the Mining Sector, GCS also does work in the private, industrial and oil & gas sectors as well as government industries.
