Job Description:
GCS has a vacancy for a Water Resource Management Specialist. The position requires 5-10 years experience in a consulting environment. Qualifications will be a degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Hydrology, Hydrogeology or similar.

SENIOR GROUNDWATER MODELLER
Job Description:
GCS currently has a vacancy for a Senior Groundwater Modeller in our Johannesburg/Pretoria office. Candidates should have an MSc Degree or PHD (Hydrogeology/Environmental Engineering). Geology as part of pre-grad subjects is important. The candidate must have at least 8 years experience in groundwater modelling. He/she will be mostly involved in mining related projects across the African Continent.
Job Skills:
- The candidate must have a good theoretical knowledge of groundwater modelling.
- Must be able to transform conceptual models/field data into numerical models.
- Have experience in model data preparation and construction.
- Understand and Execute Calibration techniques.
- Conduct Model sensitivity analysis/verification.
- Be able to apply different model boundary conditions to model different flow and contaminant transport scenarios.
- Must be able to Model data/file analysis and presentation.
- High level understanding of hydrogeology and groundwater flow/contaminant transport mechanisms.
- Good Analytical skills.
- Good Communication and reporting skills.
- Good working knowledge of groundwater modelling software/ packages (preferably FD and FE modelling e.g. GMS/Visual Modflow/Vistas/PMWIN/Feflow).
- Experience with programs such as Surfer/CAD or GIS, Aquifer test analysis software, hydro-chemical analysis software, and groundwater database software.
- Experience in mining related projects is seen as advantageous.

Job Description:
GCS currently has a vacancy for a Senior Hydrogeologist in our Johannesburg/Pretoria office who manages complex hydrogeological projects related to the mining sector. The candidate must have an MSc Degree in Hydrogeology and at least 5 years experience in hydrogeology. Groundwater modelling experience would be a definite advantage. The candidate must be able to work independently and/or as a team with engineers, environmentalists, hydrologists and geochemists. The candidate would be based in either Johannesburg or Pretoria. Remuneration would be based on experience and technical ability.

Job Description:
GCS currently has a vacancy for a Hydrologist / Water Engineer in our Johannesburg or Pretoria office. Candidates should have a BEng / BTech (Water) or higher qualification and a minimum of 3 years experience is required. A Professional registration is preferred. The candidate will report to the Water Unit Manager.
Job Skills:
- Work well in teams as well as independently.
- Strong computer skills.
- Design software preferable.
- Perform basic water infrastructure related designs and hydrological calculations.
- Water balance modelling knowledge.
- Flood hydrology and storm water management planning is preferable.

- storm water control systems and
- mine rehabilitation/closure designs.

- Must have strong computer skills.
- Design software is preferable.
- Knowledge on design of water related infrastructure, design of mine waste rock dumps and design of bulk earthworks is a must.

Job Description:
GCS is looking to employ a strong candidate specialising in Project Management with the main focus on Environmental Management and Water Use Licensing.
Job Skills:
The candidate must have an appropriate qualification, and at least 8 years, or more, experience in the above. Must have a proven track record in the National Water Act 1998, Mineral and Petroleum Resource Development Act and the National Environmental Management Act. The successful candidate needs to have experience in the compilation of EIA’s, EMP’s and have sound knowledge of the water industry. Knowledge on Water quality and quantity management will be an added bonus.
